Bio:
Katharina Schier dance creator, choreographer and educator born in Germany and raised in Calgary, AB. Katharina has performed and presented work in Vancouver, New York, Boston and most recently Calgary. Katharina obtained her BFA in contemporary dance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. While in attendance she performed in works by word renowned choreographer including: Mark Morris, Danny Buraczeski, Uri Sands, Richard Colton and Andrea Miller. Katharina is the Artistic Director of Calgary Core Contemporaries Dance Association, a project based dance company that is committed to collaborative and collective creative initiatives. Katharina works hard to foster safe collaborative environments and challenges the hierarchy, and normative that exist in classical theatre and dance creation. Katharina is a passionate contemporary artist who is excited about art that ignites conversation and serves to investigate and support the important socioeconomic and cultural challenges of our time. Katharina is always honoured to be a part of the important and fun work CAOS is embarking on.
Three fun facts:
1. I love hiking, skiing, camping and anything outdoors with my partner Harry (even dancing, which I prefer to do outdoors too!)
2. I could read my life away if I had the time... I am a non-fictional gal.
